THE FINTAIL SHINER
The Fintail Shiner was created and patented by Henry S. Dills in 1925 and produced by the Creek Chub Company from 1924 to 1935. The lure was a crankbait known for its diving lip which was patented and used in many of Creek Chubs lures.
The Fintail Shiner is a notable lure in fishing history as the lure was used by George Perry to catch the world record Largemouth Bass in 1932. This world record 22 lb 4 oz Bass was caught in Montgomery Lake in Telfair County, Georgia on June 2, 1932 and it held that record for 77 years until tied by Manabu Kurita in Japan with a 22 lb 4.97 oz Bass.
My lures are reproductions of antique patented fish lures from 1900 to 1950, the golden age of wood fish lures in the U.S. All are hand crafted of Bass wood turned on my wood lathe, painted with an oil based enamel paint, sealed with a clear finish and completed using stainless steel fittings and eagle claw hooks.
