THE CHARMER

The Charmer, known as" The most attractive fish lure any angler ever cast" was patented in 1910 by Frederick W. Breder and John H. Loyd. The lure was manufactured by the Charmer Minnow Co in Springfield, Missouri between 1910 and 1920 and is the mother of all the "Barber Pole Lures". Originally developed as one piece with propellers, it came into production as two pieces with the rear section designed to spin as it was retrieved, the twirling making the fish dizzy ! Variations include several sizes, surface and underwater, two and three hook, mostly with stripes but also with spots. Very rare with auction prices into several thousand dollars.

All lures come in an attractive wood presentation box, with a written history and a copy of the original lure patent drawing.
